PPA-Atlas for PV

Our PPA-Atlas for PV is an online tool that supports users in the evaluation of new PV investments that are to be realised outside of a feed-in tariff through the sale of electricity via a PPA. For the valuation of such an investment, it is necessary to map the electricity market revenues and corresponding PPA prices based on current forward market quotations and, if applicable, a long-term electricity price forecast. Furthermore, risk bands from weather year influences on the captured prices must be taken into account.

By selecting the respective technologies and specifying the exact project location, the PPA start and PPA duration, the PPA-Atlas for PV enables an individual calculation of the expected PPA price for the corresponding project. Different PPA start dates, PPA durations as well as assumptions on structuring costs and revenues from guarantees of origin can be set, calculated, and compared.

In addition to calculating a specific PPA price for the analysed project, various evaluations are displayed graphically within the online tool:

  1. Development of the electricity price and the absolute market values / captured prices
  2. Development of market value differences (specific market value to reference market value) with and without curtailment at negative prices
  3. Revenue structure from electricity market revenues, PPA revenues and, if applicable, EEG remunerations as input parameters for the project’s profitability calculation
  4. Development of profile values including weather year sensitivities

In addition to the graphical representation, the results are provided as numerical values in table format and are available for download.
