Inhouse-Workshop: Strategy for Continued Operation. Potentials & Business Fields

From 2020, more than 4,000 MW of existing wind turbines will be seeking new revenue and marketing options outside the EEG. This offers attractive potential for new business fields. Which business models are these, what needs to be considered in their development and how can they be evaluated?

We offer this inhouse workshop to discuss these questions, as well as the opportunities and risks of a possible business segment development for the further operation of WTGs.

CONTENTS

With the expiry of the 20-year EEG remuneration, many WTG operators are looking for opportunities to continue operating their WTGs. Different options for action are available:

  • Short- or medium-term power purchase agreements (PPA) with traders or electricity consumers
  • Marketing via collection platforms
  • (Artial) sale of the projects
  •  Direct combination with consumers or storage at the site

Not only WTG operators are already looking at these opportunities, but also market players who are focusing on green power marketing or who are aiming to acquire generation capacities or repowering projects. Since ex-EEG plants will account for a significantly growing share of the power generation segment in the future, the company’s own positioning should be determined today and the course set for a possible market entry.
