Strategy

Given the changing political, social and economic landscape, companies must constantly question their business model: Is the business model in line with climate policy goals? Is the market environment changing so comprehensively that the company needs to reorganize its activities? Do local or national societal developments exist that affect the business model? And how can stakeholders (e.g., employees, supervisory board) be engaged on this journey?

An internal strategy process can help to effectively address these and other questions. This strategy process can include, for example, an analysis of customer requirements, competitors, or the company’s own strengths and weaknesses. It can also address very specific questions about the future course of the company. The strategy process thus serves to derive decisions about the future course of action and guides the company in making future decisions.

Relevant examples from the energy sector are the handling of gas network concessions in the context of decarbonizing the heating sector or the reorientation of the investment strategy towards renewable energies.
