Under the German Combined Heat and Power Act (KWKG), the subsidy rates for electricity generated by conventional and innovative CHP plants of certain capacity classes are determined in competitive tenders. The tenders, which are designed as pay-as-bid auctions, offers opportunities for economic optimisation. Market participants aiming to exploit this optimisation potential have to develop a robust market assessment prior to the participation in the auctions.
