Biomethane Price Model

Biogenic fuels such as biomethane can make a substantial contribution to CO₂ reduction in the electricity, heat and transport sectors. In particular, biomethane from sustainable substrates such as waste and residues can be a low CO₂ alternative to fossil natural gas.

However, the still unclear political and energy industry developments, as well as the non-transparent market, present investors and plant operators with the challenge of uncertain price developments of biomethane.

The biomethane price forecasts from enervis provide a well-founded analysis of key price drivers, taking into account different future scenarios. We have developed a biomethane price model for this purpose. In the model, the biomethane market is divided into the electricity, heat and transport sectors. In the modelling, a distinction can be made between different types of biomethane. The output of the model is therefore annually resolved biomethane prices, which provide an important basis for investment decisions and the examination of contracts.
