Tenders for capacity markets

On the path to a decarbonised European energy system, the share of conventional, weather-independent capacities in the market is continuously decreasing. As a result, debates about a reduced level of security of supply arise and lead to the introduction of capacity markets in more and more bidding zones across Europe.

In order to provide weather-independent capacity and thereby flank a further expansion of renewable energy technologies, tendering procedures have been implemented in several European Member States. As an example, capacity is acquired through tendering procedures in Poland and Belgium.

The bidding procedures are designed differently depending on the market and in most cases come with high complexity. Market participants should therefore analyse the regulatory framework with regard to the tendering procedure in detail and develop a thorough market assessment before participating in the auctions.

enervis is one of the market-leading consultancies when it comes to the modelling of energy industry auctions and the development of customized and robust bidding strategies. We support our clients in the analysis of different tendering procedures across Europe.
