Green Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) have become a firmly established component of industrial electricity procurement. They offer long-term price stability and enable a sustainable electricity supply directly from renewable energy assets. For many industrial companies, the question arises whether PPAs are a sensible addition to – or even a replacement for – their existing sourcing strategy. Evaluating a PPA requires a detailed analysis of market conditions, contractual structures, and individual risk factors – as these are long-term strategic decisions with significant financial implications.
We support industrial off-takers in developing tailored PPA strategies – whether through classic PPAs, hybrid models, or full-supply solutions that include structuring services and even on-site renewable generation. With more than 20 years of experience in the energy sector, we have successfully advised on PPA projects of various sizes with a total contracted volume of several TWh. Thanks to our deep expertise, we support both large corporations and medium-sized companies – for example in the chemical, plastics, hydrogen, and automotive industries – in unlocking the full potential of renewable PPAs in Germany and other European markets.
Development of a tailored PPA strategy
In dedicated workshops or as part of comprehensive strategy projects, we define the key criteria and conditions for procuring renewable electricity via PPAs. This includes analysing your company’s specific requirements – such as load profile and regulatory framework – as well as identifying relevant market risks. The goal is to develop a PPA strategy that anticipates and mitigates energy market risks early on – for example, through suitable contract models, staggered volumes or portfolio approaches.
Risk analysis and economic feasibility study
Drawing on our long-standing experience in European energy markets, we assess economic risks, evaluate market price developments and analyse structural risks such as volatility and profile effects. Our feasibility study provides a robust decision-making basis for assessing whether PPAs are suitable for your company and whether a more detailed analysis would add strategic value.
Our consulting services along the entire PPA process
We support your company from the initial strategic assessment through to the successful contract negotiation:
Tendering and Procurement Process
We manage the entire PPA procurement process for you – from initial market engagement and preparation of tender documentation to the execution of the tender itself. We handle communication with potential suppliers, coordinate the offer phase, and ensure that all relevant information is collected and structured in a clear and systematic manner. In doing so, we rely on established processes and our strong network of utilities and project developers.
Evaluation and Negotiation of PPA Contracts
We support you throughout the selection and negotiation of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with a sound energy-economic analysis of available offers. This includes assessing key commercial parameters such as contract duration and price, as well as relevant qualitative contractual elements. Your individual risk profile is at the centre of our approach: we provide targeted advice on contractual specifics to ensure the best possible economic and strategic outcome for your business. During contract negotiations, we assist you with all commercially relevant aspects – flexibly assuming the role that best suits your needs. Whether as a strategic advisor in the background or as an active negotiator at the table, we adapt to your preferred setup. With interdisciplinary expertise and methodological excellence, we are your partner throughout the entire PPA process – from the development of your initial strategy to the final contract signature. You benefit from our deep industry knowledge, strong network, and model-based analysis.
